The history of First Assembly's goes back more than 75 years when our church was founded through "cottage home prayer meetings" in the village of Brave, Pennsylvania.
Evangelist Walter C. Long, from Flintstone, Maryland, conducted evangelistic tent meetings in Brave during the summer of 1930. When a congregation was established, Reverend Long became the first pastor of the church.
The church officially associated with the General Council of the Assemblies of God (headquarters in Springfield, Missouri).
The congregation acquired the Maple Grove School in Brave as its first permanent home.
Sensing a need to relocate closer to the town of Waynesburg, in 1980 the church purchased 8 acres of property on PA Route 21 in the village of Eastview, outside of Waynesburg. A new church facility including a sanctuary and Christian education rooms was dedicated on Easter Sunday, 1984.
A new 9600 square foot Family Life Center was dedicated in July 2005.
As a result of our long and deep history, First Assembly is a multi-generational church family. Guests to our services will see people in every season of life. There are growth activities and service opportunities for every age--whether young or old, married or single.
We are very excited about our future. As a family of Christ's followers, we seek to be generous and faith-filled people, making a difference in our world.
