From the Pastor,
The scriptures provide the church with a solid foundation and a powerful mandate to reach out to the world with the Good News of the Gospel. The Gospel is a message of inclusion. It reaches across the lines of gender, socio-economic class, and ethnicity. God loves people and that is why He created the church. The church of Jesus Christ is people and He is the head and the heart of that body.
The gospel is a message of hope and transformation. It gives hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless, and strength to weak. It makes strong people stronger and adds a dimension to the quality of life that cannot be realized through the external. Money cannot buy the happiness and peace that the inner working of the Holy Spirit brings. Real living is not about spending, doing, or even feeling, although real living empowers us to rightly spend our resources, to do the things that leave a powerful legacy, and to experience real and lasting peace through Jesus Christ. Real leaving is not a state of doing, but a state being. That state of being involves being in right relationship with God through a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The church is people and it exists to minister to the needs of people through Christ Jesus. There is but one church, one message of redemption and one redeemer. Denomination is man’s creation, but the church is God’s creation. Jesus said “I will build my church…”
The pattern for the New Testament church has been established by God. It is seen in the scriptures, specifically in Acts 2:42-47. (1) The saints were students of the Word of God. (2)They cultivated a relational fellowship and, (3) they developed a consistent pattern of prayer. (4) God moved among them with signs and wonders and the people were in awe of God. (5) People genuinely cared for one another and ministered to one another compassionately and generously. (6) They opened their homes to one another. (7) The church grew as people were saved.
I invite you to experience the presence of the Living God, in His living church. There are many fine congregations that are a part of His church, but we would love for you to become a part of this one. The pastoral staff, the church leadership, and the congregation of First Assembly of God exist to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and you.
